TOP 10 NHIAA GAMES FROM 2022
No. 10: Pinkerton 34, Concord 31

Our countdown starts with a game between two Division I playoff teams that met on the regular season’s final weekend.

The matchup featured nine touchdowns and three lead changes, but Pinkerton’s running game proved to be the difference in its 34-31 triumph. The Astros received a 234-yard rushing performance from halfback Jacob Albert (24 carries) and five touchdowns from fullback Cole Yennaco.

Pinkerton led 34-24 with 7:11 remaining thanks to an 8-yard touchdown run from Yennaco (17 carries for 112 yards), but Concord cut into that lead when quarterback Zack Doward scored on a 4-yard run with just over five minutes to play. The scoring drive featured a 43-yard pass from Doward to Divon Duncan.

The way its offense was operating Concord looked like it would have a shot to to win the game if its defense could get a stop, but Pinkerton didn’t allow it. The Astros picked up three first downs to run out the clock and earn a home playoff game.

Doward completed 5 of 9 passes for 125 yards and ran for two TDs. Duncan rushed for 106 yards on six carries and caught two passes for 78 yards. Concord running back Elia Bahuma gained 72 yards on 25 attempts and rushed for two touchdowns.
