Laube lands special award

RICHMOND, Va. – Dylan Laube (Westhampton, N.Y.), a senior running back on the 14th-ranked University of New Hampshire football team, was named the CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.

It is the second time this season Laube received this accolade. He was also honored Sept. 4.

Laube’s 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown gave UNH a 25-22 lead at 13:29 of the third quarter at then-16th-ranked University of Delaware on Sept. 23. It was the second 100-yard kickoff return TD in as many seasons for Laube, and it tied the program record for longest kickoff return.

Laube finished with a pair of kickoff returns for 128 yards and had one punt return for 3 yards. He recorded a total of 163 all-purpose yards.

UNH (2-2, 0-1 CAA) returns to action Saturday (3 p.m.) with a home game against Towson.

Laube leads the nation in kickoff return average (41.4),  all-purpose yards per game (246.5 yards per game). He is one of nine players with a kickoff return for a touchdown and 1 of 14 players with a punt return TD; only one other player has both a kickoff return TD and punt return TD.

He is second in total TDs (nine), scoring (13.5 points per game), receiving touchdowns (four); No. 5 in receiving yards (381); No. 6 in combined kick return yards (298); 10th in punt return average (15.2); and 11th in receiving yards per game (95.2) and receptions per game (6.8).
