TOP 10 NHIAA GAMES FROM 2023
No. 5: Salem 33, Windham 28

This Division I matchup featured four quarters of action, and wasn’t decided until Windham’s pass attempt into the end zone fell incomplete as time expired.

The Blue Devils took the lead for good in the back-and-fourth battle with 5:10 to play, when quarterback Nolan Lumley completed a 63-yard TD pass to halfback Kevin Todisco.

Offense dominated the first half when each team scored on its first three possessions.

Windham received two touchdowns from fullback Tiger An (2 and 8 yards) and a 33-yard TD pass from Bill DePietro to Chris Brearley. An rushed for 126 of his game-high 177 yards in the first half.

Running back Felix Gonzalez  had two TD runs (2 and 13 yards) for Salem, which also scored on Todisco’s 5-yard run.

Todisco’s 1-yard run put Salem in front 27-21 with 5:46 remaining in the third, but the Jaguars regained the lead on DePietro’s 30-yard touchdown run with 6:51 to play.

Salem caught a break when it recovered the onside kick that followed DePietro’s TD, however, and scored three plays later on the pass from Lumley to Todisco.

After that the Blue Devils came up with two defensive stops and then celebrated the victory.
