The preseason Watch List for the Yukica Player-of-the-Year Award will be released Aug. 29. Players on the Watch List will be selected by the Yukica Chapter’s Player-of-the-Year committee. The Watch List was created to promote the Yukica Award, which is in its second season. The winner DOES NOT have to come from this list.
Souhegan High School running back/linebacker JJ Bright was the winner of the inaugural Yukica Award last season.
The Yukica Player-of-the-Year Award is sponsored by the Joe Yukica New Hampshire Chapter of the National Football Foundation and represents the most outstanding NHIAA football player each year. The winner is chosen through a voting process that includes NHIAA head coaches and a panel of statewide media members.
Joe Yukica was a college football player and coach. He served as the head coach at the University of New Hampshire (1966–1967), Boston College (1968–1977), and Dartmouth College (1978–1986), and played at Penn State from 1949 to 1952.
