These are the 20 NHIAA players selected to the Joe Yukica Player of the Year Preseason Watch List, which was released Thursday:

The Watch List was created to promote the Yukica Player of the Year Award, which represents the top NHIAA football player each season and was presented for the first time in 2023. Souhegan High School’s J.J. Bright was the inaugural winner. A vote by NHIAA head coaches and selected media members determines the winner, who does not have to come from this list.

Here are the dates for further announcements regarding the 2024 award:

Nov. 7: 10 semifinalists announced
Nov. 21: Three finalists announced
Nov. 28: Winner announced
