Washington has special start

Dartmouth College senior Jordan Washington was named the Ivy League’ Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday for his performance in Saturday’s 45-13 season-opening victory over Fordham.

Washington, a defensive back, blocked a 39-yard field goal attempt in the third quarter, recovered the loose ball and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown.

The blocked field goal was Dartmouth’s first since Charles Looes against Princeton last season (Nov. 3).

Dartmouth seniors Q Jones and Josiah Green were among the honorable mentions on the Ivy League weekly honor roll, with Jones eclipsing 100 all-purpose yards and Green tying for the team lead in tackles (four) including a sack and tackle-for-loss.
