FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Nashua School District Announces Temporary Closure of Stellos Stadium Due to Safety Concerns

The Nashua School District has announced the temporary closure of the athletic turf field at Stellos Stadium, effective immediately, due to safety concerns relative to the playing surface. This decision follows a recent inspection that identified issues with the field’s surface that could pose a potential risk to students, athletes, coaches, and officials.

The safety and well-being of our students and the students from other schools are always our top priority. After a detailed review, it was determined that the current condition of the turf field does not meet safety standards for athletic activities. We are taking proactive steps to address these concerns to ensure the safety of all field users.

As a result of the closure, all upcoming practices, games, and events scheduled to take place on the turf field will be rescheduled and relocated. The Nashua School District Athletic Department, and Bishop Guertin High School Athletic Department are currently working with coaches, teams, officials’ organizations, and other schools to secure alternate venues and reschedule events. Details regarding these adjustments will be communicated directly to those affected and through each school’s athletic website.

We understand that this closure will cause disruptions and we are committed to keeping everyone informed throughout the process. We appreciate the community’s understanding and patience as we work to resolve these issues and restore the field for safe use.

The district anticipates that the repair process will begin late this fall and into the winter and most likely be completed for the beginning of the spring athletic seasons.
