Burkhalter claims NE10 award

MANSFIELD, Mass. — For the first time in his career, fifth-year senior Blaine Burkhalter (Burnet, Texas) has been named the Northeast-10’s Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced in a release on Monday afternoon.

In Saint Anselm’s 20-14 overtime win over Assumption on Saturday, the wide receiver tied his season-high with five catches and totaled a season-best 77 receiving yards to go along with two touchdown receptions. It was the first multi-touchdown game in his career. Burkhalter, a fifth-year senior, also rushed the ball one time for a gain of 5 yards.

Burkhalter’s first touchdown catch came on a 4-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Drew Forkner (Plano, Texas) with 7:13 remaining in the second quarter. He then hauled in the game-tying touchdown catch on a 24-yard pass from Forkner with 3:04 left in regulation.

The 77 receiving yards is the most in a single game for Burkhalter since September 1, 2022 when he racked up 109 yards on five catches in a 28-10 win against Millersville.

This is the first Offensive Player of the Week award for any Saint Anselm student-athlete this season. It is the second weekly award this fall for the program, with freshman running back Jake Croce (Point Pleasant, N.J.) having earned Rookie of the Week honors back on September 23rd.

Burkhalter and the Hawks have a bye week before taking on in-state rival Franklin Pierce on Nov. 2 (1 p.m.) in Rindge.
