NHFR Team of the Week: Spaulding

NHFR TEAM OF THE WEEK
Spaulding Red Raiders

Spaulding earned its first NHIAA victory of the season and dampered its rival’s playoff hopes when it beat Dover 41-33 at Hugo Bolin Field on Friday night.

Spaulding running back Seth Cortina scored four touchdowns and added a pair of two-point conversions. Cortina, a senior co-captain, scored on runs of 9, 8, 4 and 1 yard. Sophomore Tyler Lindsay had a 13-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter and Matt Gould scored on a 1-yard run in the third.

Trailing 41-33 late in the fourth, Dover drove to the Spaulding 24 but turned the ball over on downs.

The Red Raiders improved to 2-6 overall and 1-6 in Division I. The Green Wave fell to 3-5 overall and 2-5 in Division I and must defeat Winnacunnet on Friday to have any chance of making the Division I playoff field.

Spaulding took the lead for good on a 4-yard run by Cortina and his conversion run to make it 22-14 with 1:33 remaining in the first half.
