FCS Poll: Top teams will collide

Top teams in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll and the nation’s longest winning streaks are colliding this week – a natural as the regular season winds down.

While there aren’t changes among the top five teams in the new national media poll, there may be in another week.

Top-ranked North Dakota State (9-1), which has captured nine straight games to tie for the second-longest active FCS streak, will host FBS-bound Missouri State (8-2), which has won eight straight to tie for the fourth-longest streak. The Bears, though, are ineligible for the poll in their final FCS season.

Second-ranked Montana State (10-0) is enjoying the best start in program history and will take its FCS-leading 10-game winning streak to No. 4 UC Davis (9-1). The host Aggies, like NDSU, have a nine-game winning streak, including a 30-14 victory at then-No. 7 Montana this past Saturday night.

South Dakota State (8-2) and South Dakota (7-2) remain No. 3 and 5, respectively, but there’s a lot of movement after them.

Two full weeks of the regular season remain before the announcement of the FCS playoffs pairings on Nov. 24. Seventh-ranked Mercer (9-1) is the first team to qualify for the 24-team field, earning the Southern Conference’s automatic bid.

A national media panel selects the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll. A first-place vote is worth 25 points, a second-place vote 24 points, all the way down to one point for a 25th-place vote.
