Campbell 48, ILMA 7

AMHERST — Move over Scott Hershberger and make some room for your brother Nick.

Scott Hershberger may hold the state’s career rushing record, but Nick Hershberger rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries to help top-seeded Campbell defeat third-seeded Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough 48-7 in Saturday’s Division III championship game.

Campbell (11-0) completed its season as the only unbeaten team in the state.

Scott Hershberger added 148 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns a week after breaking the state’s career rushing record during a 50-22 semifinal win over No. 4 Gilford. He ran for 686 yards in three playoff games and ended his career with 6,212 yards.

ILMA’s lone TD came on a 3-yard touchdown pass from Alec Adorno to Brogen Donnelly in the second quarter, but Campbell’s Michael Grace tossed a 13-yard TD pass to Bonson Leduc on the final play of the first half to give the Cougars a 34-7 halftime lead.

Campbell has won two of the last three Division III championships.
