Seahawks cut ties with Griffith

• ICYMI: The Seattle Seahawks cut Portsmouth High School graduate Thor Griffith last Thursday, two days after signing him as an undrafted free agent. Griffith, who played at Louisville last season, participated in Seattle’s rookie minicamp.

Griffith, who is listed at 6-foot-2, 305 pounds, began his college career at Harvard, where he was an All-Ivy League first-team selection after recording 55 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in 2023. In his three-year career at Harvard, Griffith recorded 132 tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks in 30 games.

Griffith transferred to Louisville last year. He had 21 tackles, three sacks, six tackles for loss and a forced fumble in 13 games.

• Here’s the schedule for this year’s Queen City Jamboree, which will be played Aug. 29 at Gill Stadium:

3:30 p.m.: Souhegan (A) vs. Alvirne (H)
4:30 p.m.: Salem (A) vs. Trinity (H)
5:30 p.m.: Bishop Guertin (A) West (H)
6:30 p.m.: Bedford (A) vs. Pinkerton (H)
7:30 p.m.: Pelham (A) vs. Memorial (H)
8:30 p.m.: Pembroke (A) vs. Central (H)

• Spaulding High School won’t play any games on its home field this season because the grass is being replaced. Spaulding coach Andy Jackson said he’s unsure if the Red Raiders will play their games on the road or if they will have a temporary site for home games.

• Bishop Guertin has filled its Week 1 opening with a road game against Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School in Palmer, Mass.
