NHFR Team of the Week: Central

NHFR TEAM OF THE WEEK
Manchester Central

Takeaways played a huge role in Manchester Central’s 13-7 triumph over Concord on Friday night.

Central (1-2) came away with three turnovers in the win, including a Romello Diaz interception on Concord’s final possession after the Crimson Tide moved the ball to the Central 36-yard line.

Javian Beckles recovered a fumble for the Little Green, which also ended a Concord threat when Owen Taylor-Gelinas interceped a pass in the end zone on a second-down play from the Central 16.

Central broke a 7-7 tie on Gibril Djuma’s 1-yard TD run with 8:06 remaining in the third quarter. Djuma rushed for 63 yards on 10 carries in the victory.

Concord took a 7-0 lead, but Central pulled even on a 53-yard TD pass from quarterback Drake James (9 of 14, 128 yards) to Taylor-Gelinas on the opening play of the second quarter plus the PAT.

Concord (1-2) entered the game ranked No. 9 in the Power Poll.
