Woodsome resigns to coach in Maine

After two seasons with the program, Cory Woodsome has resigned as the varsity head coach at Kingswood Regional High School.

Woodsome told New Hampshire Football Report on Monday that he has accepted the varsity head coaching job at Massabesic High School in Waterboro, Maine. Massacbesic is Woodsome’s alma mater.

“Just spoke with the players,” Woodsome said. “It’s always hard to leave a coaching job, but Massacbesic is five minutes from where I live. It’s a move that makes sense for me.”

Kingswood was allowed to move from Division II to Division III for the 2022 and 2023 seasons, but returned to Division II in 2024, Woodsome’s first season.

Kingswood finished the 2024 season with a 3-6 record, but the Knights advanced to the Division II playoffs last season. Kingswood’s season ended following a 14-7 loss to Plymouth in the Division II quarterfinals.

“I think the program did some good things in the last two years, but there’s a lot of work still to be done,” he said.

Before he was hired at Kingswood, Woodsome spent four years as an assistant coach at Bonny Eagle High School, which has one of the top football programs in Maine. His coaching resume also includes a stint as an assistant coach at Massabesic.
