Yukica POY finalists released

Here are the three finalists for the 2024 Joe Yukica Player of the Year, an award sponsored by the Joe Yukica/New Hampshire Chapter of the National Football Foundation given to the most outstanding NHIAA football player in New Hampshire. The three finalists were selected from a list of 10 semifinalists chosen by the Yukica Player of the Year committee. The finalists were determined by a vote of NHIAA head coaches and statewide media. This year’s winner will be announced on Nov. 28. 

Daniel Batstone: Senior RB/LB (Exeter)

Batstone helped Exeter go unbeaten during the regular season and earn the No. 2 seed for the Division I playoffs. Through 10 games he’s rushed for a team-high 847 yards and 18 touchdowns on 123 attempts (6.9 ypc), and caught eight passes for 147 yards and three TDs. He ranks second on the team in both tackles (53) and sacks (three). Exeter will face Londonderry in Saturday’s Division I semifinals.

Scott Hershberger: Senior RB/DB (Campbell)

Hershberger enters Saturday’s Division III championship game with 1,930 yards rushing and 24 touchdowns on 142 carries this season. He also has four receptions for 45 yards, and is second on the team with 53 tackles. Hershberger set the NHIAA career rushing record when he gained 191 yards in a semifinal victory over Gilford, and has run for 6,066 yards in his high school career.  

Kevin Todisco: Senior RB/LB (Salem)

Todisco completed his senior season with 1,757 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns plus 251 yards receiving and three TDs. Defensively, he had 88 tackles, including eight tackles for loss, and five forced fumbles. Todisco helped Salem earn the No. 5 seed for the Division I playoffs.
