Saint Anselm selects captains

MANCHESTER — The Saint Anselm College football team has selected four captains ahead of the 2025 season. Seniors Vincent Ciulla (South Amboy, N.J.) and Aidan Noke (Burlington, Mass.), along with juniors Drew Forkner (Plano, Texas) and Stephen Laguerre (Spring Valley, N.Y.), were voted by their teammates to lead the Hawks in the fall.

Head coach Joe Adam, entering his 11th season at the helm of the program, praised the group’s leadership: “These student-athletes don’t just talk about leadership – they live it through their actions, toughness, and character. I could not be more proud to have them lead our program, and I have complete confidence in their ability to carry the torch for our team, both on and off the field.”

Ciulla, a steady presence on the offensive line, has played in 18 career games and earns captaincy for the first time as a senior. At the center position, he was a key factor is the pass blocking game last season as the Hawks ranked fourth in the league in passing yards per game.

Noke also steps into a leadership role for the first time following a breakout 2024 campaign at linebacker. He ranked second on the team in total tackles (61), tackles for loss (8.0), and sacks (3.5), all of which were career-highs for a single season.

Forkner, the team’s starting quarterback last season as a sophomore, started nine games and threw for 1,854 yards and 13 touchdowns. He rushed for 247 yards and added three rushing scores as well. Forkner earned NE10 Offensive Player of the Week honors after a five-touchdown performance against Franklin Pierce in November, becoming the sixth player in program history to record five or more passing touchdowns in a single game.

Laguerre was an All-NE10 Second Team selection in 2024 as a defensive lineman. He posted 44 tackles last season, including five tackles for loss and two sacks. Both Laguerre and Forkner become the first junior captains for the Hawks since Will Klein during the 2023 campaign.

“Our program is built on a blue-collar foundation – one rooted in hard work, accountability, and an unselfish commitment to the team,” Adam said. “These four young men have earned this role the hard way: by grinding every day, setting the standard, and consistently putting the team above themselves.”

Saint Anselm concluded the 2024 season with a 5-5 record, including a 5-3 mark in NE10 play. The Hawks have now finished .500 or better in three straight seasons, the first time the program has accomplished that feat since 2000-02. Saint Anselm finished in third place in the Northeast-10 Conference (NE10) standings after a second-place finish two seasons ago. The program’s 2025 schedule is set to be announced in the coming weeks.
