WATERBURY, Conn. — The Franklin Pierce University football team earned a 28–17 road victory over Post University on Saturday afternoon at Municipal Stadium. The Ravens improved to 4–4 overall and 3–2 in Northeast 10 Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  
  • After a scoreless first quarter highlighted by a pair of defensive stands, Franklin Pierce broke through midway through the second. Following a blocked punt by Jeremiah Hayes (Union City, N.J.), the Ravens took over deep in Post territory. Anthony Johnson (New Haven, Conn.) capitalized two plays later with a seven-yard touchdown run to put Franklin Pierce ahead 7–0.
  • Post responded late in the half with a 31-yard field goal by Nathan Hawkins, cutting the deficit to 7–3 heading into the break.
  • The Ravens opened the second half strong, orchestrating a 12-play, 75-yard drive capped by a 3-yard rushing touchdown from Reimello Hyde (Nashua, N.H.) to make it 14–3. The Eagles answered with back-to-back scoring drives, including a 6-yard touchdown run by Tyler Phommachanh and a 28-yard touchdown pass to Darius Washington, giving Post a 17–14 lead heading into the fourth.
  • Franklin Pierce regained control when Connor Marchi (Somers, Conn.) hauled in a 33-yard touchdown pass from Kevin Leal (Cambridge, Mass.) to put the Ravens back in front, 21–17. The defense tightened from there, forcing two turnovers on downs and a pair of interceptions by Darian Lopez-Sullivan (Portland, Maine) and Da’Juan Banks (Hartford, Conn.).
  • With just over a minute remaining, Alex Benitez (Belle Meade, N.J.) sealed the win on a 16-yard rushing touchdown to make it 28–17.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:  
  • Kevin Leal completed 21 of 37 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown.
  • Reimello Hyde led the rushing attack with 51 yards and one score, while Johnson and Benitez each added rushing touchdowns.
  • Connor Marchi recorded a team-high 33-yard touchdown reception.
  • Geno Facchetti (Wilbraham, Mass.) paced the defense with nine tackles, while Mason Clark (West Warwick, R.I.) tallied two sacks for 15 yards.
  • The Ravens outgained Post 301–204 in total offense and converted 8 of 19 third downs.
