Powell, DeAndrade collect preseason honors

Two University of New Hampshire seniors, tight end Jordan Powell and cornerback Casey DeAndrade, are among the six Colonial Athletic Association players who have been named to the 2016 Athlon Sports FCS Preseason All-America team. The six selections are the most of any FCS conference.

James Madison senior offensive tackle Mitch Kirsch, James Madison junior linebacker Andrew Ankrah, Richmond senior safety David Jones and William & Mary junior placekicker Nick Dorka, Jr. are the other CAA representatives on the team.

Powell was UNH’s second-leading receiver last season, making 46 catches for 461 yards and five touchdowns. The Wildcats’ tight end made the All-CAA Football first team and was recognized on the College Sporting News “Fabulous Fifty” All-America team

DeAndrade was recognized as a third-team All-American by STATS and The Associated Press last season. He led the Wildcats with 76 tackles and also contributed two sacks, two interceptions and 10 pass breakups. He returned 20 punts for 226 yards and a touchdown.
