Offensive starters returning (3): Jr. Gavin Scoon (OT); Sr. Will Stinson (OL); and Jr. Tim Bouchard (slot receiver).
Defensive starters returning (3): Sr. Brad Conha (DT); Bouchard (SS) and Soph. Edwin Estevez (DB).
Conference: Division II South: St. Thomas, H-D/Hopkinton, ConVal, Trinity, Sanborn, Windham, Pelham, Milford, Souhegan, Hollis/Brookline and Manchester West.
Coach’s comment: “I still think we’re pretty athletic,” Cumba said. “I don’t think we’re as athletic as we were in the past, but we still have some kids who can catch and run — some kids who can do things in open space. Our strength this year is going to lie up front though. We’re bigger than we’ve been in past years. Less experienced, but we’re much bigger. I think we’ll be good. I just don’t know how good.”
Footnotes: Stephen Hedberg, the Saints starting quarterback each of the last two seasons, will play for Phillips Andover Academy this season. Hedberg tossed 65 touchdown passes during his high school career, including 35 as a junior (NHIAA single-season record). … Cumba has 43-9 record since he replaced Rod Wotton as the program’s head coach. … Zach Knight, who scored the only St. Thomas TD when the Saints beat Windham 10-6 in the Division II championship game, transferred to Exeter High School
