New Hampton edges Proctor

newhamptonQuarterback Jake Dulac passed for three touchdowns and ran for another to lead New Hampton to a 26-20 victory over Proctor Academy on Friday night.

Dulac broke a 14-14 tie when he scored on a 25-yard run in the third quarter. He extended New Hampton’s lead when he connected with Marcus Peterson for a 62-yard TD pass in the fourth. Proctor made it a one-score game on a 2-yard TD run by QB Henry Bechok, but that capped the scoring.

Dulac completed 5 of his 15 passes for 185 yards, but was intercepted three times. He also carried the ball 13 times for 112 yards.

New Hampton (2-1) opened the scoring when Dulac hooked up with Peterson for a 39-yard TD pass in the first quarter. Dulac also tossed a 61-yard touchdown pass to Dominic Dimitroff in the opening quarter. Dimitroff’s TD plus Javier Arrinda’s poit-after kick gave the Huskies a 14-6 lead.

Proctor (1-1) received a 4-yard TD run from Lance Crate, and a 3-yard TD run from Ezra Jenifer. Jenifer also ran for the two-point conversion following his TD, which tied the game, 14-14, in the second quarter.

Proctor had a 20-12 edge in first downs. … New Hampton intercepted Bechok three times. Dimitroff (two) and Peterson had the interceptions. … New Hampton was 2 of 11 on third-down conversions, but 3 of 3 on fourth-down conversions. … Matt Narewski and Wes Narewski each made a team-high seven solo tackles for New Hampton. Nick Spaulding led the team in overall tackles with 14 (12 assisted), and Ian Gobbi had nine (four solo). … New Hampton was penalized nine times for 126 yards. … Proctor ran more offensive plays (67-54), but New Hampton had the edge in total yards (326-322).
