UNION LEADER/ESPN NH
POWER POLL
The top 10 high school football teams in New Hampshire, voted by the staffs of the New Hampshire Union Leader and ESPN New Hampshire, with record, first-place votes/points in parentheses, plus last week’s ranking:
1. Bedford, 7-0 (6/69), 1st
The Bulldogs are the only unbeaten team in Division I, and one of only five unbeaten teams in the state.
2. Merrimack, 6-1 (1/62), 2nd
No New Hampshire quarterback has had a game like the only Merrimack’s Justin Grassini had Friday night.
3. Goffstown, 6-1 (50), T-3rd
We’ll learn a lot about the Grizzlies in the next two weeks. Goffstown will finish the regular season with games against Salem and Merrimack.
4. Windham, 7-0 (47), T-3rd
The teams above Windham could knock each other off, opening the door for the Jaguars to finish No. 1.
5. Exeter, 6-1 (45), T-5th
Unlike most offenses, Exeter’s gets better as the weather gets worse.
6. Salem, 6-1 (38), T-5th
Like Goffstown, Salem hasn’t beaten a team with a winning record. The Blue Devils can change that in the next two weeks, when they face Goffstown and Bedford.
T-7. John Stark, 7-0 (24), 7th
The Generals passed a huge test against Plymouth.
T-7. Bishop Guertin, 6-1 (24), 7th
BG will undoubtedly gain some respect if it can win at Exeter on Friday.
T-9. Dover, 5-2 (7), NR
Dover’s matchup against Nashua South next week could be the program’s biggest game in years.
T-9. Nashua North, 5-2 (7th), NR
The Titans may be the most underrated team in the state.
Also receiving votes: Plymouth, 6-1 (6), 9th; Hanover, 7-0 (3.5), NR; Monadnock, 6-0 (2.5), NR.
