Ford named All-American

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior punter has been chosen for the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner’s  Association All-America first team by the nation’s sports information directors.

Ford, an Amherst resident who played for Souhegan High School, had a standout year for the Falcons. His average of 45.3  yards per punt average was No. 2 nationally in Division II and 11th among all NCAA punters, regardless of division. He had 20 kicks of 50 yards or more, including at least one of 60 yards or more in six games. He placed 13 punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

Ford broke the Bentley single-season mark for average yards per punt in each of the last three seasons and finished his college career with an average 41.8 yards per kick, best Northeast-10 history.

The All-America award is the latest earned by Ford in recent weeks. He was previously honored as a first-team All-Northeast-10 selection for the second straight year, and a first-team Division II-III New England All-Star by the New England Football Writers.
