No. 6: Exeter 23, Nashua North 20

It took overtime to decide this Division I semifinal, which ended when Exeter’s Jake Gould capped Exeter’s first OT possession with an 18-yard field goal. The kick came after Exeter stopped North a yard short of the end zone on a fourth-down play from the 3-yard line.

North trailed 20-13 until Levi Gosselin scored on a 61-yard run from the Wildcat formation in the fourth quarter. Exeter trailed 13-12 at halftime, but grabbed a 20-13 lead when quarterback Kyle Ball scored on a 15-yard run with 54 seconds remaining in the third quarter and then added the two-point conversion.

Ball had a game-high 145 yards rushing on 20 carries in the contest. He also scored Exeter’s first touchdown on a 2-yard run in the opening quarter.

Nashua North running back Sclyler Boykin also scored twice. He caught a 74-yard TD pass from quarterback Jeff Baldassari in the first quarter, and a added a 10-run TD run in the third.

The Titans had a first down on the Exeter 13-yard line late in the fourth, but the Blue Hawks recovered a fumble, ran out the clock and the teams headed to overtime.

After North failed to score on it overtime possession, Exeter opted for a field goal on a fourth-down play from the 1 that earned the Blue Hawks a spot in the Division I championship game.
