New Hampton promotes Kiley

When it was time for the New Hampton School to hire a varsity football coach, the school went with the person who was most familiar with the position.

Ed Kiley, who served as New Hampton’s head coach from 2008 to 2013, has returned to that position, replacing former head coach Rick Marcella. Kiley, a Plymouth resident, has been affiliated with the New Hampton football program since 2004, and served as associate head coach, offensive coordinator and defensive line coach during Marcella’s three seasons as New Hampton’s head coach.

Marcella accepted the head coaching position at Bridgton (Maine) Academy last month.

“Ed Kiley is a highly respected and extremely knowledgeable football coach with a strong commitment to New Hampton School,” New Hampton athletic director Jamie Arsenault said. “We are fortunate to have him on our staff and excited to make this appointment, which provides continuity for our program and our community.”

New Hampton posted a 34-10 record during Kiley’s six years as head coach. He guided the Huskies to NEPSAC Bowl Game appearances in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and one championship
