Campbell claims Division III title

CAMPBELL 12, MONADNOCK 8

Keegan Mills rushed for a team-high 76 yards and two touchdowns to help second-seeded Campbell (11-0) cap an unbeaten season with a 12-8 victory in the Division III championship game.

Top-seeded Monadnock (10-1) led 8-6 until Mills scored on a 33-yard run with 6:39 to play. Monadnock limited Campbell to 31 yards rushing on 28 carries through three quarters, but the Cougars used a spread formation rather than its normal single-wing set on its fourth-quarter scoring drive, which covered 68 yards on seven plays.

Mills completed three of his four pass attempts for 35 yards and recorded a game-high 18 tackles from his middle linebacker position. His first touchdown came on a 1-yard run and handed the Cougars a 6-0 lead with 9:07 remaining in the first half.

Monadnock received 125 yards rushing on 28 carries from Chandler Matson. The Huskies scored on Tim Hart’s 6-yard run with 6:10 left in the first half. Matson added the two-point conversion.
