Tight end selects UNH

The University of New Hampshire added to its 2018 recruiting class Thursday night, when it received a verbal commitment from Kyle Lepkowski, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound tight end from Tuscarora High School in Frederick, Md.

UNH was one of six schools that offered Lepkowski a scholarship, and he reportedly narrowed his choices to three schools — Albany and Air Force were the others — before he informed UNH offensive line coach Alex Miller of his decision to join the UNH program. His other offers came from Bryant, Stony Brook and Virginia Military Institute.

Lepkowski also played basketball and lacrosse for Tuscarora. He caught 55 passes for 786 yards and five touchdowns last season.

Lepkowksi is the third player to give a verbal commitment to UNH since the early signing period, joining Charles Briscoe,  a 6-foot, 174-pound wide receiver from St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C.; and Derek Thompson, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound defensive back from Appoquinimink High School in West Middletown, Del.

Lepkowski, Briscoe and Thompson can make their commitments binding by signing a national letter of intent on Feb. 7.
