New Hampshire Football Report

CHaD fundraising has begun

BEDFORD – Fundraising is underway for the 2018 CHaD NH East-West High School All-Star Football Game.  This year’s group of 86 student-athletes has raised more than $5,100 in the first two weeks of optional fundraising.  As the players get ready for the seventh All-Star Game, here’s a trip down memory lane to track the notable progress of several former players in the charity game.

Players have experienced success at every level of college football, with the first alum finding his way to a roster in the National Football League.  The following is a list of several alumni and their accomplishments.

Andrew Lauderdale, Trinity (2012) – The Trinity product was part of the inaugural 2012 game, when Team West was a 44-12 winner over Team East.  Lauderdale had a stellar career at the University of New Hampshire and was signed by the New Orleans Saints in May.  He will hope for his NFL debut in 2018 after signing a reserves/future contact with San Francisco last month.

Troy Pelletier, Manchester Central (2013) – The wide receiver had a storied career, one of the best ever at Lehigh University and in the Patriot League. In his senior season he caught 105 passes for 1,292 yards and 10 touchdowns.  He is the school’s and the league’s all-time record holder with 328 career catches and 4,216 yards.  His 37 touchdowns are also a league record.

Zach Ziemba, Manchester West (2013) – Ziemba was a key member of a Plymouth State University team that advanced to the NCAA Division III tournament last fall.  He was an All-East Team Third Team Defense selection, earned MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year honors, and was named to All-New England and All-Conference teams.  In his senior year he recorded 55 tackles, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and blocked two kicks.

Rick Holt, Portsmouth (2013) – The big lineman completed his college career by helping the UNH Wildcats advance to the FCS Division I quarterfinals in the fall.  In his best and final season in Durham, the defensive tackle recorded a career-best nine sacks and 12 tackles-for-loss.  Holt earned the Bo Dickson MVP at the 2013 CHaD game.

Trevor Knight, Nashua South (2014) – The Amherst native had a brilliant season as UNH’s starting QB last fall.  In his second season as the starter he nearly doubled his touchdown output (26) while keeping his interceptions the same (10).  His highlights included 420 yards against Rhode Island and four touchdowns against William & Mary.

Donovan Phanor, Portsmouth, 2014 – Phanor capped an outstanding career at Stonehill College last fall.  A three-year starter at cornerback he played 42 games in four years, finishing with six interceptions and 19 pass breakups.  He was also outstanding in the classroom, earning academic honors for his conference and region multiple times.

The rosters have been announced for this year’s game, and they can be found at the newly-redesigned CHaD All-Star Football website, www.CHaDAllStarFootball.org.  Fans can purchase tickets, make a donation to their favorite player, and learn about the history of the game on the site.  Tickets are $10 each and will go on sale at a later date this month.
