Parisi among nation’s top kickers

MANCHESTER– Senior Daniel Parisi of the Saint Anselm College football team was one of 21 placekickers named to the Fred Mitchell Award Watch List for his efforts through the season’s first four contests.

One of six NCAA Division II kickers on the list, Parisi is eligible for the award that recognizes performance on the football field and in the community. Last season, Assumption’s Cole Tracy, now a kicker at Louisiana State University, was the recipient of the award.

In the community, Parisi is an active participant in the annual Relay for Life events on campus and his team’s “Be The Match” bone marrow registry drive. The Forensic Science major and Chemistry minor is also active in his local church, specifically with its “People Helping People” food drive that assists those in need in his community.

Parisi, who has made each of his eight field goal attempts this season, enters play on Saturday against Merrimack ranked third in NCAA Division II with 1.6 field goals per game and he remains one of only three field goal kickers in the division to remain perfect on the season.

Against Stonehill in his team’s season-opening contest on Sept. 8, Parisi made four field goals, including three in overtime. He made a 45-yard (career long), 42-yard and 19-yard field goal in overtime, helping his team stretch its program-record overtime game to three stanzas

He is the program’s active leader in field goal percentage (76 percent), making 13 field goals across his 32 career games. He also boasts a career point-after percentage of 88 percent.
