O’Connor named to All-NE team

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University of New Hampshire senior wide receiver Neil O’Connor was named to the 2018 New England Football Writers University Division All-New England Team, it was announced Monday.

O’Connor, who was previously tabbed to the All-CAA First Team, will be honored at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Dec. 6, at Rosaria Restaurant and Function Facility in Saugus, Mass.

The All-New England Team recognizes the region’s top Division I FBS and FCS football players.

O’Connor led the Wildcats in receptions (71), receiving yards (814) and receiving touchdowns (three) while leading the CAA in receptions/game (6.45) and ranking second in the league in receiving yards/game (74.0). The 71 catches matched the 10th best single-season total in UNH history. He collected three 100-yard-plus receiving games, all at Wildcat Stadium, which included a season-best 156 yards on 14 catches against Stony Brook on Oct. 13, a 10-catch, 111-yard outing versus Colgate on Sept. 8 and a 10-catch, 108-yard performance against Holy Cross on Oct. 6. He secured a season-long 71-yard TD reception at Colorado as part of a five-catch, 98-yard game against the Buffaloes on Sept. 15.

O’Connor, a Leominster, Mass., native, completed his Wildcat career ranked third in team history in receptions (235) and receiving yards (3,117).
