Wiggins, Collins commit to UNH

The University of New Hampshire has received verbal commitments from Tyrell Wiggins, a running back/defensive back from the Dexter Southfield School in Brookline; and from J.C. Collins, a quarterback/defensive back from Williamstown (N.J.) High School.

Both are expected to sign a national letter of intent with UNH on Feb. 6.

Wiggins, a Roxbury, Mass., resident, was the NEPSAC Class C co-MVP last season, when he rushed for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns on 96 carries for a team that finished the season with a 7-2 record. He also caught two TD passes, and returned a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown. Wiggins also had an offer from the University of Maine.

Collins committed to the University of Massachusetts in July, but had his scholarship offer pulled when Walt Bell replaced Mark Whipple as UMass’ head coach.

Collins led Williamstown to a 12-1 record and the South Jersey Group 5 title. As a senior Collins ran for 1,208 yards and 16 TDs ,and passed for 1,236 yards and 11 TDs.
