McQuarrie adds D1 offers

Weare resident Parker McQuarrie, a 6-foot-7, 225-pound quarterback who played for the St. Paul’s School in Concord last season, received scholarship offers from UCLA and Syracuse on Tuesday.

UCLA head coach Chip Kelly offered McQuarrie a scholarship after visiting him in Concord on Tuesday morning. Later in the day Syracuse made its offer.

McQuarrie repeated his junior year at St. Paul’s and will be a senior in the fall. He’s the third quarterback in the Class of 2020 that UCLA has offered, joining D.J. Uiagelelei of St. John Bosco in Bellflower, Calif., and Bryce Young of Mater Dai in Santa Ana, Calif.

McQuarrie played at John Stark Regional High School before he transferred to the St. Paul’s School after the 2017  season. He guided St. Paul’s to an unbeaten record and its first NEPSAC Bowl victory since 1989 last year.

McQuarrie also has scholarship offers from Boston College, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, Wisconsin and Rhode Island.
