2019 TEAM PREVIEWS

Division/Conference: Division II North.
2018 Record: 4-5 (did not qualify for playoffs)
Returning starters on defense: 8
Returning starters on offense: 8
Key returnees: Alex Cheek (QB), Jonathan Mitchell (LB/FB), Michael Schwarzkopf (OL/DL), Jackson Forgione (OL/DL), Blake Descoteaux (RB/LB), Jackson Reulke (WR/S), Brandon Gallagher (WR/CB), Curtis Nelson (WR/CB), Nick Arenstam (Slot), Jack McLean (LB/RB).
Season opener: Sept. 7 at Pembroke.
Coach’s comment: “The team’s strengths are in the depth at skill players. We return our core of receivers, quarterback and backfield from the 2018 season and expect them to start to break out. … We expect junior QB Alex Cheek (1,400 yards passing, 350 rushing, 13 total touchdowns) to grow from his successful sophomore season and improve the offense from a year ago. … Brandon Gallagher had 17 receptions and two touchdowns last season. … John Mitchell  (145 tackles, one interception, 10 TFL) will anchor the defense at linebacker along with a full secondary (Jackson Reulke, Gallagher and Curtis Nelson) from last season. Reulke had three interceptions last season. Mitchell along with Jack McLean and Blake Descoteaux at linebacker gives us the speed and toughness that we need in a tough Division II. Descoteaux recorded three sacks in 2018. … Plymouth is the team to beat in the North until someone proves they can do it. As always, Bow, Stark Hanover and Plymouth will make runs at the playoffs and we hope to be in the mix as well. Bow returns a lot of talent and they will be tough as usual. It should be an exciting season for the entire Division II.”
