Ravens come up empty

RINDGE – After two weeks on the road, the Franklin Pierce University football program returned home to Sodexo Field and was beaten by Stonehill 52-0 Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Skyhawks moved to 4-1, 4-0 NE-10 while the Ravens fell to 1-5 and remain winless in league play.

The Skyhawks held the Ravens in check all game holding them to 125 yards of offense and seven first downs. Stonehill recorded 569 yards of total offense including 282 yards on the ground.

Quarterback Anton Stoneking starred for the Skyhawks with 286 yards passing and three touchdowns. Running back Justin Felder tallied 166 yards on 17 carries (9.8 avg) with three scores. Landen Bates chipped in 96 yards and one rushing TD. Andrew Jamiel was the leading pass catcher with 11 receptions for 139 yards and a touchdown.

For the Ravens, freshman defensive back Brice Brown (Los Angeles, Calif.) stripped Terry Smith on the Ravens 21 yard line and the loose ball was scooped up by freshman defensive back Ishmael Johnson (Lynn, Mass.) and returned 45 yards. Pierce wasn’t able to move the ball as they turned the rock over on downs.

Late in the fourth quarter, FPU drove down in the red zone for the first time when freshman quarterback Drew Campanale (Shrewsbury, Mass.) completed a 5-yard pass to freshman running back Chazz Bryant (Clifton, N.J.), however the Ravens failed to convert on fourth down as they were shut out by the visitors.
