Nashua North scored on offense, defense and special teams and earned the program’s first state championship by beating Goffstown 49-21 in Saturday’s Division I championship game at Bedford High School.

The Titans scored on their first four offensive possessions, added two defensive touchdowns and returned a kickoff for a TD. It was the most points scored by the winning team in the Division I title game since Pinkerton beat Keene 52-0 in 1986.

North quarterback/defensive back Curtis Harris-Lopez scored three touchdowns; slot receiver/defensive back Jayden Espinal found the end zone twice; and running back/defensive back Issac Smith also scored twice.

North’s defensive touchdowns came on a Harris-Lopez interception return, and Espinal’s fumble return. After Goffstown cut North’s lead to 21-14 in the second quarter, Smith returned the ensuing kickoff 66 yards for a score.

It’s the first unbeaten season for North (7-0), which entered the game as the No. 1 team in the Union Leader Power Poll.
