TOP 10 NHIAA GAMES FROM 2020
No. 10: Pelham 14, Monadnock 10

The only time Pelham was tested during the 2020 season came in this Division III semifinal contest, which was a defensive struggle throughout.

The Pythons led 8-0 at halftime, and 8-2 when Kevin Bodenrader broke free for an 82-yard touchdown run with 7:01 left. Monadnock closed the gap on Justin Joslyn’s 1-yard TD run followed by Nate Doyle’s pass to Zion Carroll for the conversion with 2:51 to play, but Pelham hung on for a victory that earned the Pythons a spot in the Division III championship game.

Pelham took the lead in the first quarter on Jake Herrling’s 61-yard TD run. After Monadnock cut into the advantage with a safety in the third, the Pythons made it 14-2 on Bodenrader’s TD run.

Pelham was limited to 160 yards rushing on 27 attempts, but Monadnock manged only 117 yards rushing on 44 carries. The Huskies had a 181-163 edge in total offense, but turned the ball over on downs twice in the second half, including once on the Pelham 1-yard line.

Pelham went on to defeat Stevens in the following weekend’s Division III championship game.
