Saint Anselm picked sixth

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College football team is projected to finish sixth in the Northeast-10 Conference, according to the league’s preseason coaches’ poll released on Monday.

The Hawks have not placed sixth or higher in a season since the 2015 campaign (T-5th/10). In 2019, Saint Anselm knocked off three of the top five programs ranked in that campaign’s preseason coaches’ poll, downing New Haven, Assumption and Southern Connecticut State late in the season.

The Hawks are currently slated to play 10 opponents in 2021, opening their schedule on Sept. 4 against Merrimack, a former member of the NE-10 that began the transition of its entire athletics department to NCAA Division I in 2019-20. The Warriors will host the Hawks under the lights at 6 p.m. in recently-constructed Warrior Stadium in North Andover, Mass.

The complete poll reads as follows:

4) Assumption – 39
5) Pace – 37
6) Saint Anselm – 29
7) American International – 24
