New Hampshire Showcase: FAQ

What is the New Hampshire Football Showcase?

The New Hampshire Football Showcase is an event where high school players take part in football-specific drills in front of college coaches. Athletes are tested in events like the 40-yard dash, the three-cone drill and the shuttle run before taking part in skill-building activities specific to their position. A portion of the event will be used for 7-on-7 competition. Linemen will get college-level coaching from former Bates offensive line coach Skip Capone and Saint Anselm defensive line coach John Trisciani while others are taking part in the 7-on-7 session. Testing results will be posted on the New Hampshire Football Report, so the results can be seen by schools that do not attend.

Who can attend?

Any high school football player is eligibile to attend. Players who do not live in New Hampshire or attend high school in New Hampshire are welcome.

Why should a player attend?

The New Hampshire Football Showcase was designed to create added exposure for high school players who want to play college football. These players benefit by performing with college coaches in attendance, but every athlete will also have the opportunity to speak with any college coach who is at the event. Indroductions between a player and coach will be made upon request. That said, any player who attends will also benefit from the coaching and level of competition.

Is the New Hampshire Football Showcase just for seniors?

No. In fact it can be beneficial for a players to get on a college’s radar before his senior season.

There are lots of Showcase events. Why should an athlete attend this one?

Many athletes choose to attend larger events, which can be beneficial, but the New Hampshire Football Showcase attempts to maximize exposure for each athlete so no one gets “lost in the shuffle.” The event typically attracts between 80-95 athletes, and we limit the field to 100 based on feedback from college coaches.  Fewer athletes = more reps = more exposure.

In addition, the cost ($99 before July 1, $129 after) is much less than many Showcase events in New England. A portion of each entry fee is used to purchase shirts for every athlete, insurance and field rental. In some cases this investment can save a family thousands of dollars via scholarship money/financial aid.

Four players who attended last summer’s event will enter camp with the University of New Hampshire this year. While we would never take credit for an athlete’s hard work that earned a spot on a college roster, we do believe the New Hampshire Football Showcase aids players and college coaches in the recruiting process.

How many colleges will be in attendance?

The New Hampshire Football Showcase usually attracts between 20-25 colleges, although more than 30 were at the 2021 event. The schools that plan to attend are listed on the New England Gridion Development home page. There will be coaches from Division III, Division II and Division I (FCS) schools on the field that day. July 9 is a dead period for FBS schools, so they are not allowed to attend. Although there will be several FCS schools in attendance, we target Division II and Division III schools in the Northeast because these are the levels most players from northern New England are able to play at.

What advice would you give an athlete who attends?

Speak with the coach of any school you may be interested in attending. This one-on-one time is where much of the value lies in this event. Some questions an athlete may want to ask:

  • Can I play at your school?
  • Do you have my intended major?
  • Is there scholarship money/financial aid available?
  • What does you recruiting board look like at my position?

When will the 2022 New Hampshire Football Showcase be held?

This year’s event will take place Saturday (July 9) from 9 a.m. to noon at Saint Anselm College’s Grappone Stadium. There is plenty of parking surrounding the football field. Any athlete who attends should wear turf shoes and shorts, and bring plenty to drink. A shirt will be provided with a number that matches the player information that will be handed out to the college coaches.
