CAA PICKS

NOTE: All picks made against the point spread. Odds courtesy of Wynnbet.com

Colgate
at Maine (-9.5)
O/U: 45.0

Maine was held to 118 yards of offense in last weekend’s 41-0 loss to New Mexico. The Black Bears were also penalized nine times for 75 yards. Colgate is coming off a respectable performance in a 41-10 loss to Stanford. THE PICK: Colgate

Fordham
at Monmouth (-8.5)
O/U: 65.0

Fordham kicked off its season with a 48-31 win over Wagner, but things won’t be as easy this week. There was a lot to like about Monmouth’s performance in its 31-21 loss at New Hampshire, starting with quarterback Tony Muskett. Hard to envision the Hawks losing their home opener. THE PICK: Monmouth.

Villanova (-28.5)
at LIU
O/U: 51.0

Villanova quarterback Connor Watkins passed for 298 yards and three touchdowns in last weekend’s 45-17 triumph over Lehigh. Would prefer -28, but the Wildcats have enough offense to cover. THE PICK: Villanova

Saint Francis
at Richmond (-16)
O/U: 42.5

Expecting a big game from Richmond quarterback Reece Udinski, who passed for a school record 7,877 yards and 48 touchdowns before transferring from VMI. Richmond also has a tackling monster in linebacker Tristan Wheeler, who recorded 19 stops in last weekend’s 34-17 loss to Virginia. Saint Francis lost its opener to Akron in overtime, 30-23. THE PICK: Richmond.

Delaware State
at Delaware (-33.5)
O/U: 42.0

Line may be a bit inflated since Delaware upset Navy 14-7 on Saturday. That, plus the rivalry factor, make taking the points attractive. Low total for a spread this high. THE PICK: Delaware State

Campbell
at William & Mary (-13.0)
O/U: 49.0

William & Mary had 559 yards of offense (303 on the ground) in a 41-24 victory over Charlotte last weekend. Charlotte is an FBS team, albeit not a good one. Campbell was impressive on both sides of the ball in its opener, a 29-10 victory over The Citadel. Looks like too many points. THE PICK: Campbell

Tuskegee  (line not available)
at Hampton
O/U:

Rhode Island (-8.5)
at Bryant
O/U: 52.5

Rhode Island may be the better team, but not willing to give more than a touchdown to a Bryant team that nearly knocked off Florida International last Saturday (38-37): THE PICK: Bryant

Elon (-7.5)
at Wofford
O/U: 49.5

Elon nearly overcame a 23-point deficit before losing to Vanderbilt 42-31 last weekend. Transfer QB Matthew McKay was 19 of 32 for 333 yards passing and two touchdowns, and also ran for 52 yards and two touchdowns. Wofford failed to score in its opener, a 31-point loss to Chattanooga. Elon has enough offense to get there. THE PICK: Elon

Morgan State
at Towson (- 24.0)
O/U: 43.5

It’s hard to get excited about either side in this game. Georgia Southern buried Morgan State 59-7 last weekend, when Towson won a defensive struggle with Bucknell, 14-13. It’s a big number, but it’s difficult to make a case for Morgan State on the road. THE PICK: Towson

UNH (-3.5)
at Albany
O/U: 43.5

The Great Danes have had New Hampshire’s number in recent years, winning the last three meetings and four of the last five. This doesn’t look like a great Albany team, but the number is too high. If the the O/U climbs at all the under may be something to consider. THE PICk: Albany.
