Coach’s Comment: “We graduated a very talented group last year so we have a lot of opportunities for younger players to step into key roles as well as opportunities for returning players to emerge as standout team leaders. We have a lot of experience returning at our skill positions, but also graduated some of our big linemen, so we’ll be looking at a more balanced attack plan this season. That being said, I expect our line, led by Cameron Dubois and Jack Welch, to continue to open big holes for our running back squad led by Tayshawn Sheppard and Kaden Bickford to do some damage offensively. On defense we will continue to be a fast, attacking defense with a strong linebacker core of Seth Worell, Blayne Belanger, Tayshawn Sheppard and new addition Thomas Rees, who will be calling the defense. Rees is extremely talented on both sides of the ball, but shared his position time the last two years with the back-to-back Division IV player of the year. We also have some very promising young talent in sophomores Nate Gray, DeShaun Bailey, Eliel Amparo, Amani Muya, Jackson Dumont and Aaron Delisle, who are all tracking to see increased varsity playing time this year. We’re fortunate to have a strong and talented freshmen group as well who will not only get JV games, but some may also be competing for varsity reps. We know were going to have some things to figure out with new players in new positions but we’re committed to do everything we can to put the team in the best possible position for success. I expect most teams in the division to be much improved this year as many teams are returning a lot of talent. In particular Newport promises to be an extremely good team and I anticipate explosive offenses out of Raymond and Bishop Brady.”
