Awards pour in for UNH’s Laube

DURHAM – Senior running back and captain Dylan Laube (Westhampton, N.Y.) of the 11th-ranked University of New Hampshire football team received a total of five awards Monday following his record-breaking performance Sept. 9 at Central Michigan University.

  • Reese’s Senior Bowl Offensive Player of the Week
  • Shrine Bowl Offensive Breakout Player of the Week
  • New England Football Writers Association Gold Helmet Award
  • CAA co-Offensive Player of the Week
  • Light On College Sports Standout FCS All-Purpose Performer
  • CFPA Honorable Mention FCS National Performer of the Week

Laube broke the program record for single-game receiving yards with 295 on a career-high 12 receptions in UNH’s 45-42 loss at Central Michigan; the 295 receiving yards ranks fourth in CAA Football history. He finished with 371 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns, including 71-yard and 80-yard TD receptions.

Both his 295 receiving yards and 371 all-purpose yards are best in the FCS this season. Laube’s other stats included seven rushes for 30 yards, one kickoff return for 28 yards and a punt return for 18 yards.

In the second quarter, Laube compiled 148 all-purpose yards, including four catches for 127 yards with an 80-yard TD reception on a screen pass that lifted UNH into a 14-14 tie.

He entered halftime with 191 all-purpose yards and added 70 yards to that total in the third quarter.

Laube amassed 110 more all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. His 2-yard TD run pulled the Wildcats within 42-35 at 5:58 and then he raced 71 yards down the left sideline on a 71-yard touchdown catch that tied the score, 42-42, at 3:14.

Laube broke the UNH single-game receiving yards record of 284 established by All-American wide receiver David Ball on Oct. 2, 2004.

Of Laube’s 295 receiving yards, 262 (89 percent) came after the catch.
