MASCAC recognizes Lombard

PLYMOUTH – Junior Willie Lombard (Bridgewater, Mass.) was honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) with inclusion on the Weekly Honor Roll on Monday following a big game in the Panthers’ home opener on Saturday.

Lombard topped the century mark for the second time in his career, rushing for 105 yards on 16 carries in PSU’s 31-21 setback to the University of New England at Panther Field. He averaged 6.6 yards per carry in the contest and finished 5 yards shy of his career high. His 36-yard run in the fourth quarter was a career long to help set up a Plymouth State touchdown.

Lombard added 90 kickoff-return yards on the afternoon to finish with 195 all-purpose yards, a week after totaling 194 all-purpose yards at Castleton.

With the non-conference portion of the schedule out of the way, Plymouth State (0-2) turns its attention to the MASCAC slate, starting with a trip to Bridgewater State (0-2) on Saturday for a noon clash with the Bears.
