UNH Spring Game set for Friday night

DURHAM The University of New Hampshire football team will hold its traditional Spring Game, which is free to the public, on Friday at Wildcat Stadium (7 p.m.).

Fans will get their first chance to see the 2024 Wildcats in action as Team Wild squares off with Team ‘Cats in an offense-vs-defense scrimmage. There will be no live video stream or live stats available for the exhibition.

Todd Walker Teammate Award & Team Captains Introduced

  • Just before game time, head coach Rick Santos will announce team captains and the 2024 recipient of the Todd Walker Teammate Award, which goes to the player demonstrating selflessness as the ultimate teammate. That individual will wear Todd’s iconic No. 80 for the Spring Game.

2023 Team Awards Announced

  • In addition to the scrimmage, members of the 2023 Wildcats will be on hand for a celebration of award winners from this past season. Honors that will be presented include:

> Bob Demers 12th Player Award

> Bill Bowes/Sean McDonnell Coaches Award

> Eugene K. Auerbach Student-Athlete Award

> Buck Buchanan Distinguished Service Award

> Defensive Team MVP

> Offensive Team MVP

Red Zone Lockout Returns

  • The Spring Game will conclude with the return of Red Zone Lockout, a popular feature introduced in 2023 that puts the offense squarely against the defense with the ball starting at 25-yard line for a series of possessions. The offense will be credited for points in the traditional sense (six points for TD, three points for FG, one point for PATs), but the offense will also score an additional point for each first down. The defense will score based on its ability to prevent the offense from scoring. Holding the offense to a FG will result in four points for the defense, and halting the drive with zero points allowed will net the defense seven points. The first side to reach 18 points wins the Red Zone Lockout.

Season Ticket Member Event

  • Fans who renewed their season tickets for the 2024 season are invited to an exclusive event in the Service Credit Union Victory Club that starts at 5:30 p.m. Coach Santos will introduce his captains and answer questions from the audience as he recaps the spring and looks ahead to the fall season. There will be prize raffles, and season ticket members will receive a complimentary 2024 UNH Football Schedule Magnet. 2023 season ticket members can still renew for the 2024 season in time to enjoy this event, and fans interested in learning how to become a season ticket member can fill out the information form athttps://unhtickets.universitytickets.com/.
