Raymond vs. Mascoma

When and where: Saturday (1 p.m.) at Laconia High School.
Team records: Second-seeded Mascoma is 7-1. Top-seeded Raymond is 8-0.
Regular-season result: Raymond won 39-12 in Canaan.
Noteworthy: These teams met in Week 1, when the Rams looked like the fresher team and pulled away in the second half. The Royals have won seven in a row since then. … Raymond is one of five unbeaten NHIAA teams, joining Campbell, Plymouth, Exeter and Bedford. … The Rams have limited their opponents to 39 points this season. No team scored more than 12 points against them. The Raymond offense scored at least 34 points in seven of the team’s eight games. … Mascoma scored at least 28 points in each of its victories, and put at least 40 points on the scoreboard five times. … Raymond advanced by beating fourth-seeded Franklin 34-0 in the semifinals. The Rams led 14-0 at halftime and 28-0 after three quarters. Quarterback Ethan Deroche passed for 270 yards and five touchdowns in that win. His top targets were Dre Duffaut (95 receiving yards and three TDs) and Dennis Glidden (105 yards and one TD). Jacob Dalton (12 tackles) and Gabe Merrill (11) led the defense. Deroche has accounted for 40 touchdowns this season (rushing and passing). … Mascoma reached the championship game by beating third-seeded Hillsboro-Deering 44-6 in the semifinals. Mascoma quarterback Brody Goulette ran for two touchdowns (29 and 12 yards) and tossed a 3-yard TD pass to Colin Myers in the win. The Royals also received TD runs from Neil Rugg, Ethan Lewis and Paxton Roberts. .. Raymond is playing in a championship game for the first time. Mascoma hasn’t played for a championship since it lost to Franklin, 42-22, in the 2012 Division IV championship game.
