The Joe Yukica/New Hampshire Chapter of the National Football Foundation has announced that Campbell High School senior Scott Hershberger is the winner of the 2024 Joe Yukica Player of the Year Award.

The Yukica Award represents the most outstanding NHIAA football player each year and is voted on by NHIAA head coaches and a panel of statewide media members. Exeter halfback/linebacker Daniel Batstone and Salem running back/linebacker Kevin Todisco were this year’s other finalists.

Hershberger, a running back/defensive back, helped Campbell post an 11-0 record this season en route to the Division III championship. Campbell completed the season as the only unbeaten team in the state.

In addition to finishing second on the team in tackles, Hershberger rushed for 2,076 yards this season and became the state’s all-time leading rusher. He completed his high school career with 6,212 yards on 593 rushing attempts.

“(Scott) can run North-South,” Campbell coach Glen Costello said. “He has the ability to cut it and go outside, and then his vision has gotten significantly better where he’s able to see that cutback. I think 4.75 is his best 40-time, but his game speed is higher.”
