This is a practice report for the CHaD New Hampshire East/West All-Star Game, which will be played Friday night (6 p.m.) at Saint Anselm College’s Grappone Stadium:

CHaD GAME
EAST PRACTICE REPORT

East coach Steve Abraham said his team will operate primarily from the shotgun. Abraham’s Salem teams run the Wing-T and are typically under center. … The strength of the East offense may be its backfield, which includes running backs Kevin Todisco (Salem), Daniel Batstone (Exeter) and Scott Hershberger (Campbell). “Our backfield is very good,” Abraham said. “We have the three finalists for the Yukica Player of the Year. (Hershberger won the award, which goes to the state’s top player). I think our defensive line has some size to it, too. That’s another position of strength. We have (Paul) Binder, (Colin) Couture, (Devin) Boles and (Alex) Villa — all from Londonderry — nevermind Anthony Caruso from Pinkerton, Tyler Graney (Exeter) and Colton Brissard from Portsmouth is pretty stout. Those guys are huge. Size and length is a strength of ours.” … Alvirne’s Charlie Crawford and Timberlane’s Jeremy Mlocek are the team’s quarterbacks. “They’re both excellent, we’re just thin there,” Abraham said. “Our goal is to play them both at least in the first half, maybe rotate series, and then kind of go with the hot hand in the second half.” … The East will play some players on both sides of the ball in positions of need. … According to Abraham, Sam Dulac (Exeter), Junior McKinnon (Pelham) and Jamie Isaac (Pinkerton) won’t play in Friday’s game, either because of injury or conflicts. … Abraham said he’s been very impressed with the Hershberger brothers, Scott and Nick. Scott will play running back/defensive back, and Nick is a running back/linebacker. “Just didn’t get to see them a lot because they were at Campell playing in Division III games, and I spent so much time watching Division I games,” he said “I know that Scott gets a lot of publicity and it’s well-deserved, but Nick is a heck of a football player on both sides of the ball. You can see why they had the success that they did. A couple other guys I want to mention are Billy Nicholls, a linebacker from Pelham. Then I have to give props to my own guy, Todisco. He’s been finishing every play in practice.” … The East will practice Tuesday at the Bedford SportsPlex (4-6 p.m.), Wednesday at Trinity High School (4-6 p.m.) and then has a walk-through Thursday at Saint Anselm (3 p.m.). … Londonderry’s Blake Thompson will handle kicking duties for the East. … More information on this year’s game, including how to donate to the cause or purchase tickets, can be found on the CHaD East/West All-Stare Game web site.
