New Hampshire Showcase: Recap

In recent years Londonderry High School linemen have made headlines at the New Hampshire Football Showcase.

Ty Miles received an offer from the University of New Hampshire at the 2023 event, and Paul Binder and Colin Couture both received offers from UNH last year. Miles and Couture are both with UNH. Binder committed to Dartmouth.

Quarterbacks may have been the strongest position group at this year’s Showcase, which was held Saturday at Saint Anselm College.

“It’s the best group of QBs since I’ve been here,” said former UNH QB Trevor Knight, who has worked the showcase for the past six years. “It’s a deep group.”

Former Souhegan High School QB Romy Jain was among those who attended. Jain impressed Merrimack assistant coach Joe Kreinsen and then performed in front of Merrimack QB coach Aynsely Rosenbaum. Merrimack extended a scholarship offer to Jain the following day. It was his first Division I offer.

“It was very unexpected,” Jain said. “I went to the Gridiron camp (New England Gridiron Development’s New Hampshire Football Showcase) and I wasn’t expecting to talk to many coaches. I thought it would be a good chance to compete, but the Merrimack coach who recruits New Hampshire (Kreinsen) saw me throw and told me they had a prospect camp the next morning and I might be the best QB there if I went. Right after camp their head coach (Mike Gennetti) told me I was offered. It was pretty fast how it happened.”

Jain, a 17-year-old Mont Vernon resident, transferred from Souhegan to The Loomis Chafee School in Windsor, Conn., following the 2023 season. He is entering his senior year.

“Since that camp I’ve been talking to a lot of coaches,” Jain said. “It’s the same coaches I was talking to before, but it seems like it amplified everything. I don’t know if that’s what teams were waiting for (someone to offer him) but I can only appreciate Merrimack for what they did.”

Parker Beauchemin (Bedford), Andy Brown (Portsmouth), Johnny Canaway (Nashua North), Spencer Colburn (Pinkerton), Gio Doria (Manchester West), Cooper Gagne (Dover), C.J. Goss (Salem), Sean Griffen (Winnacunnet), Jeremy Ly (Pinkerton), Adrian Bergman (Windham) and Brady O’Connor (Nashua North) were among the other New Hampshire quarterbacks who attended.

Kingswood’s Serafin Agramonte, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound running back/defensive back, was another player who appears to have benefitted greatly by attending this year’s event. Agramonte was a relative unknown on the recruiting trail when Saturday’s Showcase began, but ended up speaking with coaches from Rhode Island, Merrimack and UNH.

“We’re definitely recruiting him,” Kreinsen said.

Kingwood coach Cory Woodsome said he thinks Agramonte will play on the defensive side of the ball in college.

Seven states were represented at Saturday’s Showcase: New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and Florida. Athletes performed in front of 27 coaches from 22 college programs.

“This has become a really good camp for northern New England kids,” said one Division I coach. “The talent level matches the (college) programs who are here. I like how the interaction with the college coaches is encouraged and the size of the camp is good. I’ll be honest with you: I go to a lot of bigger camps with hundreds of kids and unless someone points a player out to me I’m not looking at him.

“I would never tell a kid not to compete against the best athletes in New England and it’s nice to get your photo taken with a coach from a big school, but the reality is a lot of kids aren’t getting any value. Go somewhere where you can stand out.”

New England Gridiron Development will offer an All-22 Camp on July 19 at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover. This non-contact camp if for all offensive/defensive positions, including linemen, and is open to those entering Grades 9-12. All skill levels are welcome.

Former UNH and Holy Cross coach Casey DeAndrade will direct the camp. In addition to high school coaches, the staff will include several current UNH players.

NEW ENGLAND GRIDIRON DEVELOPMENT ALL-22 CAMP

This is an inexpensive camp ($59) and would be good for any high school athlete looking to raise his game before the 2025 season begins.

Testing results from Saturday’s Showcase will be posted on the New Hampshire Football Report later this week.
