Shrine Camp: Day 3

Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl

NEW HAMPSHIRE FOOTBALL REPORT MEMBERSHIPS

The excessive heat caused New Hamphire to cancel the second of three scheduled practices Tuesday in preparation for Saturday’s Shrine Maple Sugar Bow, but New Hampshire coach Jim Corkum said his team could play a game Wednesday if necessary. “Everything we want to run has been installed with the exception of maybe a few plays,” he said.  … Saturday’s game will be played at Vermont State University-Castleton (11:30 p.m.). The game will feature 12-minute quarters. Fifteen-minute quarters have been used in the past … Neither team has to declare its offensive formations. “It’s going to be about the foundation of good defense, which is getting off blocks and tackling,” Corkum said. … Corkum said he feels good about his skill-position players. That group includes Pinkerton Academy’s Jameson Isaac. Isaac, a slot receiver/defensive back, was selected for the CHaD East/West All-Star Game, but did not play because of a family commitment. He was a late addition to the New Hampshire roster. Isaac will also return kicks, which he also did for Pinkerton. “I’m feeling good about our skill players,” Corkum said. “Isaac is a pretty good player. I’ve been very impressed with how the Pinkerton kids practice. I wouldn’t say I’m concerned, but I’ll be interested to see how we match up on the line. They’re bigger than us.” … Bow’s Brady Lover and Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough’s Alec Adorno are expected to split time at quarterback for New Hampshire. Corkum said Lover will also see time in the defensive backfield. … Hayden Boivin (North Country) and  Ahmed Diawara are Vermont’s quarterbacks. … The first Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl was played in 1954 at Nashua’s Holman Stadium. … New Hampshire leads the series with Vermont 50-18-2, but will be trying to end a two-game losing streak Saturday. … Tickets for Saturday’s game can be purchased by visiting shrinemaplesugarbowl.com.
