NEW HAMPSHIRE FOOTBALL REPORT MEMBERSHIPS

New Hampshire will be looking to end a two-game losing streak when it faces Vermont in Saturday’s Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl, which will be played at Vermont State University-Castleton (11:30 a.m.). Vermont has never won more than three straight games in the series, which New Hampshire leads 50-18-2. … Neither team had to declare its offensive formations, but Vermont coach Bob Lockerby runs the Power-I at Bellows Falls Union High School. “Defense always comes together quicker than offense, but we don’t know what we’re going to face for formations,” Lockerby said. “Years ago you sat down at a table with (the New Hampshire coaches) in March and you had to give them your three offensive formations.” … Lockerby coached Vermont to a 19-0 victory in the 2017 Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl. “Obviously it helps a great deal to have coached in the game previously,” Lockerby said. “Having some experience really helps as far as preparation beforehand. You learn that you only have so much time to get things in and you can easily overly stimulate the kids and you can overwork them physically.” … Tyler Bland (Exeter), Jacob Brown (Kingswood), Ashton Taylor (Gilford), Ethan Lewis (Mascoma) and Kellen Bateman (Exeter) have been named New Hampshire’s captains. … In terms of room assignments at Castleton, New Hampshire coach Jim Corkum said he tried to group players by position who weren’t on the same high school team. “Just figured that would help the players get to know each other a little quicker,” he said. … Salem’s Max Jacques holds the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl record for yards rushing in a game. Jacques rushed for 248 yards in the 2011 game. … The 1968 Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl was played at the University of New Hampshire, and the 2006 game was held at Plymouth State University. …  Tickets for Saturday’s game can be purchased by visiting shrinemaplesugarbowl.com.
