Bishop Brady drops season

Bishop Brady will not field a football team for the 2025 NHIAA season.

The school sent correspondence to the New Hampshire Football Officials Association on Thursday night notifying the NHFOA that the Bishop Brady football season had been cancelled. Multiple sources said the decision was made based on low participation in the program, but NHFR has not confirmed that with any school officials.

Bishop Brady competes in Division IV and was scheduled to play seven regular season games this season.

Some Division IV teams have already begun looking for opponents for the week they were scheduled to play Bishop Brady.

The Division IV season isn’t scheduled to begin their until Sept. 12-13, but Mascoma coach John Daley said the Royals may play Division III Lebanon next weekend to avoid a second bye week. Lebanon has a Week 1 bye, which would allow that matchup to take place.

The news regarding Bishop Brady comes less than a week after Stevens High School announced it would be eliminating funding for extra-curricular activities this season because of a budget deficit. Stevens coach Josh Duford said his team will start its season, but may not have enough money to play a full schedule.
