Concord’s Corkum resigns

Jim Corkum has resigned as Concord High School’s varsity football coach. The move came after Corkum was approved to become Concord High School’s principal starting July 1.

“Being the head coach here was an incredible experience,” Corkum said. “Grateful for all the support from the community.”

Corkum, 41, was Concord’s head coach for five seasons. He also coached New Hampshire in last year’s Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl.

Corkum played for Concord from 1999 to 2002, and served as a Concord High School assistant under Bob Camirand for one season before remaining on staff when Eric Brown replaced Camirand as the program’s head coach in 2009. Corkum became the program’s head coach after Brown resigned following the 2020 season.

Corkum, 36, was a captain on the 2002 Concord team that lost to Manchester Central, 3-0, in the Division I championship game. He was selected to play in the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl, and then played football at Merrimack College.

Corkum was also an assistant in the CHaD New Hampshire East-West All-Star Game when Brown served as the West head coach in 2018 and 2019.

The Concord job has been posted.
